How to make a search engine for a weblog?

I have a weblog and I make a possibility for the users to search it for the post they want or containing a specific word. How can I do that? I tried to use Google custom search but it didn’t work. Can you guys help me?

Google’s Search API is good, but does take more effort to get working. Might try:

JRank.com or FreeFind.com
